We were all stopped so that the Prime Minister of the State of Israel, who had pulled over his official motorcade to get out of his car and buy a flag, could carry out his spontaneous flag purchase without being disturbed as he haggled with the flag seller over the price.
Today there was a flash traffic jam at the corner of Rav Herzog and Zalman Schnior Streets in Jerusalem. As I approached the intersection I noticed that we were all being waved over to a full stop. Someone was purchasing an Israeli flag for his car.
Typical curious Jerusalemites we all wanted to know: “Nu?! Did he pay? Did he pay?” we all shouted.
“Yes!”, called out the excited flag seller, “Five Shekels! Stop gawking and buy one too! I should charge you 10 shekels these flags were touched by the Prime Minister, you saw him, pay up! Ok for you, like for him, just five shekels! Happy Independence Day!”
